Stroller is one of the most important equipment to have when we have a children because this one is very useful when parent want to take their little one outside whether it is just to enjoy the scenery or to do some light tasks like going shopping and other activities. With a stroller, parents don’t have to hold their baby all the time and can move freely since our baby is safe and comfortable in their seat while our hand only need to hold the handle when pushing the unit.
While strollers have the same main function which is to carry your little one when outside, not all of them are made to be the same because each stroller may have certain features that make them able to do something that not present in the other so it is always important to check their capabilities first before purchasing. For example, there are strollers with double seat placed next to each other and stackable strollers like Evenflo Pivot Xpand vs Baby Jogger City Select for those with twins or young siblings.
Beside stackable or twin stroller, there is another popular type of stroller we can use in case the parent is looking for a unit that can be carried along with their jogging and running activity called joggers or jogging strollers. This type of strollers come with 3-wheel design to make sure the whole unit is easier to maneuver when jogging compared to the standard 4-wheel design. Joggers also use a rubber tire to provide suspension and to be more durable when taken to a rougher terrain.
If regular stroller is used for strolling and casual walk, jogging stroller for run and jogging while twins stroller to carry more than one children at once, there is also a stroller used when the parent likes to travel called as umbrella stroller. This type of stroller commonly has a very light frame and thinner when compared to other types as well as minimum features to make sure the whole unit is easier to be carried from one place to another even with a public transportation.
If this is your first children or parent never purchase a stroller before, it is always good to start the journey by listing what you need from the stroller so we can select from the huge options faster.
About Graco Fastaction and Modes
To quicken the selection process, if parent don’t have a favorite brand yet, it is good to start from the most popular names first because a favorite brand that loved by many other may also fit your preference as well. Among those many options, Graco is a good brand to pick because they have a nice quality, a lot of models to offer as well as rich in features to make sure parent can get the unit matching with their need.
Not only stroller, Graco is a juvenile product manufacturer so we can get car seat as well from their collection or purchase a stroller with the seat in travel system set so we can use them from infancy stage for example, Graco Fastaction and Modes. Both of them are actually very different from each other so parent should able to pick them easily but also have some similar capabilities which is why it can get quite confusing. In short, Fastaction is a jogger and Modes is a regular stroller.
Graco Fastaction is made to be carried when parent want to jog or run with their little one since this model is made with 3-wheel design and has an inflatable, rubber tire which is suitable for different kind of terrain including a rougher trail due to the air suspension. At the other hand, Graco Modes is a regular stroller we should only use for casual strolling but since it has a special feature, we can carry smaller baby inside as well even without the car seat.
Graco Fastaction and Modes Design
Due to being made to serve a different purpose, both of these models are quite different from each other based on the design alone and we are sure parent can tell them apart as easily. Fastaction has a 3-wheel design and looks thinner compared to its brother Modes. While it does look smaller, the weight said opposite because Modes is actually lighter compared to the jogger probably because it is made to be sturdier for a jogging activity and running.
Both of them are sold separately without a car seat but we can find a bundle that have the full set as well if needed and both models can accept the same Click Connect car seat on the frame to convert them into a travel system and used since infancy stage.
Graco Fastaction and Modes Canopy
Checking further, let’s see the canopy in both model first. Graco Fastaction and Modes have a decent canopy but as you can see from the sample picture above, Modes has a higher canopy compared to the flatter Modes but both of them are equally nice to provide some coverage when the baby on board. Modes has a 3-ply canopy with a small visor at the front while the jogger only have 2-ply canopy without additional visor but has a small mesh material at the sides.
Similar like many other strollers, there is also a small window at the top or called as peek-a-boo panel to check on your little one when on board so we don’t have to stop the stroller. These canopies are also foldable when the weather is nice out there to let children enjoy the nature or when needed.
Graco Fastaction and Modes Children Seat
Moving below, we can see the stroller seats which is quite different in both models because Modes have a more padding when compared to Fastaction which should elevate passenger comfort level. However, it is by no mean the jogger seat uncomfortable for it is still able to let our baby sit unfussy inside. These seats can also accept Click Connect infant car seat when our little one is still too young to sit in the main seat but we still can’t take them to jog at these age.
What’s special about Graco Modes is we don’t have to use the infant car seat to carry smaller baby because even without the infant car seat, its main seat can be converted into a bassinet so we don’t have to purchase another compartment separately. To convert it, parent only need to recline the seat fully into a flatter position and then lift the footrest part upward to close the seat and secure the feet area. Fastaction seat can be reclined as well but not until flat.
In the front of these seats, there is a children tray that already comes in the package to allow children carry their own snack and sippy cups on the go as well as easier access for them.
Graco Fastaction and Modes Handlebar and Basket
Behind the seat, there we can see the handlebar; Graco Fastaction and Modes have a similar design for their handle because as you can see, these two have round handlebar that unfortunately not capable to be reclined or pulled upward in case parent want a lower or taller handle. It may not very important for parent with standard height but taller or shorter than average parent may find the stroller height a little bit awkward to push.
Below the handlebar, there is the main basket of each stroller and both also have the same design which in our opinion nice to support better access into the basket. They also wide enough to keep things like diaper bag and groceries.
Graco Fastaction and Modes Wheel and Tire
The last important thing is their wheel and tire. As a different model, jogger Fastaction is featured with a spokes wheel and inflatable, rubber tire to make sure the stroller can roll nicely on rougher terrain while Modes as a regular stroller has a forever wheel which is only used on flat or smooth surface because it is lack of suspension and not durable enough for a rougher terrain. As for folding mechanism, Modes fold with a button on their handle while the jogger fold with a concealed handle inside the main seat.
Now, let’s compare Graco Fastaction with Modes. As you may already know, the difference between them is on the canopy, seat, tire and wheel as well as folding mechanism. As a jogging stroller, Fastaction only has a standard canopy with a mesh sides, standard seat with reclining position and spokes wheel covered in rubber tire. At the other hand, Modes as a regular stroller has a small visor at the front, bassinet seat, and standard forever tire with handle-activated folding system.
Graco Fastaction vs Modes
All in all, the decision is all yours to make because we may have different need so it is always best to pick based on what you want. For parent who want to run or jog, Graco Fastaction is the perfect option but for those who only need a standard stroller, we do prefer Graco Modes because it lets parent to convert the seat into bassinet for smaller baby to lay down.
